-There's a couple things that I'm really nervous about...tips please?
1.) I'm not a loner, I have about ten really close friends and then I've got just like, friends too, but five of my closest friends won't be going to school with me (some are going to the other highschool, one is going into 8th and one into 7th) So I wont have a bunch of friends and I really worried about that...
2.) I've never took PE in middle school and I don't know how awkward I'll feel changing in the dressing rooms and all...advice? I don't feel very comfortable about my body and I just think I'm gonna be really awkward...
3.) I'm kind of a perfectionist and I'm taking harder classes because being in standard classes really drives me insane and I know I'm going to have a lot of homework and not have a lot of spare time...but I don't want to stop spending time with my friends? How am I going to be able still have free time??
Thanks1)try making some new friends along with your old ones.I know its scary but remember, everyone else is just as nervous as you are and about different things. Some just may not show it.
2)Dont worry about what others will think of your body.People wont be checking you out.But you could dress in the showers if ur locker rooms have them.
3)Just Think up a study/HW schedule.Dont procrastinate.Do all your work as soon as you can so you dont have to worry about having to complete HW after you hang with your friends.
Good luck(:
1) You'll most likely find new friends if you be yourself. That's key.
2) You'll be fine. It'll take about a week to get used to. If you still feel uncomfortable, go change in the bathroom if there is one in the dressing room.
3) Try to keep your weekends open, and finish hw asap. You'll have time for your friends and not worry about school.
Don't worry, freshman year goes by fast anyway.
1.) You鈥檒l make plenty of new friends. Also, if you鈥檙e taking harder classes you won鈥檛 have as much time to socialize during the day as you did in middle school. You鈥檒l have lunch to be with your friends, and if you just hang out with your closer friends there will be other people who join your table and you鈥檒l all be best friends in no-time!
2.) Changing in the locker room is not that bad. During my freshman year, we all changed in the bathroom stalls. If your locker room doesn鈥檛 have stalls, then you can change in a corner with your back to the group of people. That鈥檚 completely normal and completely socially acceptable. If you want, you can wear spandex under your normal shorts/pants so you鈥檙e never just in your underwear. Just remember, everybody else is just as uncomfortable. All of the freshmen tend to stick together.
3.)Homework... the biggest problem of high school! If you don鈥檛 play sports, go home and get it done right after school. If you do play sports you can do some while waiting for the team, or right after practice. Just don鈥檛 get distracted and you鈥檒l still have plenty of time. If you want to be with your friends, do your homework with them. If they鈥檙e in any of the same classes as you then you guys can help each other.
Freshman year really is NOT that bad. Upperclassmen just say that to mess with the younger people and scare them. Freshman year is great and goes by really quickly as long as you get involved in extra-corricular activities. Sports is how I met over 1/2 my friends and most of them were upperclassmen when i was a freshman.
ok first off, let me just say that i am going into 10th grade. to answer ur questions 1) dont worry about how many friends u have going into this year. just be really friendly and social and you should make new friends:) 2) changing in the locker room is no big deal. not everyone in there will have a perfect body, so theres no worries. and 3) sometimes u have to make a choice- do u want to be a straight a student? or do you want to have fun and settle for a's and b's? its up to you.
It will be pretty easy to make friends because generally, people pick classes that they're interested in (band, guitar, drama etc.) . So it won't be as hard because you'll be in a class with other people that share the same interest. I'm not sure whether you have 4 long classes or 7 short classes schedule, but either way you'll have plenty of time to get pretty comfortable.
PE can be awkward but only if you make it seem that way. But luckily, I'm sure you won't be changing into gym clothes until the 2nd or 3rd week of school. You might know somebody in PE and that'll keep you from becoming nervous.
If you have homework in those classes, make sure to try and finish them in class as much as you can so you can get atleast most of it done.
PE is really fun in high school. u can do alot and have a great time in pe. dont worry about the changing room. u can change really fast and hope nobody pay attention.
one great things about high school is that u get to meet new people in your area that u dont know. talk to people u dont know who sit next to u and then it would be great. soon u will know alot of other people in other classes u have then the whole school.
harder classes is a challenge but sometimes it may look easy. get well with your teacher and your teacher will help out. the more u learn the subject. the more u can get down with hw. then over the weekend u can hang out with friends
i hope u have an exciting time in high school
im a junior in high right now
When I started highschool, I didn't know anyone! This is a great chance to meet new people, and add more people to your group of friends. And you friends that are going to the other school, you'r going to see them and still talk to them :P
When I took PE I was really nervous about my body too, I actually changed in the showers since we didnt have stalls. Now I'm not very self concious anymore, but it took a looong time. And the same will happen to you too one day.
Well, your going to have to manage yourself, thats what highschool is going to help you with. Since you will have tons of projects, papers, assignments due at crazy intervals (Sometimes at the same time too), but your friends are in the same boat. I would find ways to do study groups with them, or work on projects togeather. But the best way to solve this is to get everything done before the weekend.
a: Make new friends. Just plop yourself down near some friendly looking people and say hi. Maybe you recognized somebody from homeroom. Go ask if you can sit with them. Make new friends, but keep the old. Ask them to sit with you and your new friends. If your shy, that's OK. High school is a time to reinvent yourself.
b: Just don't look at anybody when you are changing. Just do what you need to do. I'm a little (a lot) on the chubby side, but nobody cares. Everybody feels just as awkward changing in front of strangers. If it's really a problem, change in a bathroom or shower stall. By the end of the year, you will be complementing your neighbors bra.
c: Me too. I had the exact same problem. It's actually not that bad. If you have a study hall or free period, do some of your homework then. At home, find a place with no distractions and do all of your homework and study a little too. Make a study group with your friends. It's a great way to hang out with friends and get homework done. Just don't get too distracted.
I hope you have a great time in high school. I sure did.
1) All you need to get through high school is a few close friends who have your back through everything. Plus it's a time of great change and you'll make new friends, guaranteed.
2) If you can pick your lockers, try to pick one at the end of the row, where there aren't as many people around you. Remember, everyone else is feeling self-conscious too.
3) I took hard classes my freshman year, and like you, expected them to take up all my time. But they didn't. I had plenty of time to hang out with my friends.
Good luck! Trust me, high school isn't as difficult as it's made out to be. You'll do just fine! And it goes by super quick, so try to enjoy yourself. The more you're involved, the more fun it will be for you.
