Can I ask the school the pay for the stuff a student lost?

-My little sister, who is 8, goes to an expensive summer camp. Last week, she lost her swimming cap after swimming. My grandma and mom insist that I call the school to ask about the swimming cap. I called once, and the counsellor said she'll look into it. But there is no result.

They expect me to keep calling until the cap is found or until the school gets her a new cap or the school pays the cap's worth.



Is this possible? I feel like the school has no duty to recover for the loss that a student made personally...but they said she lost it at school and the school has to recover it.At my school they make it clear that they are not responsible to replace your lost things. If they find it they should give it back but they don't have to replace it
